Cuisinart DCC1000BK 12-Cup Coffeemaker Review

We review coffeemakers. Now its time for the Cuisinart DCC-1000BK 12-Cup Coffeemaker to be reviewed.

Back in Black

The Cuisinart DCC-1000BK 12-Cup Coffeemaker comes in a glossy black finish that does not stain easily and wipes clean quickly.

Automatic Coffee Brewing

You program the coffeemaker to automatically start brewing coffee before you wake up in the morning or come home at night. Programming the coffeemaker is not difficult and can be learned by reading the manual before use. Practice makes coffee!

Programmable Warming Plate

You can program the warming plate to keep the coffee warm for up to four hours maximum after the brewing cycle has ended. You program the warming plate to automatically shut off so you do not have to remember to turn it off yourself.

Charcoal Water Filter

Garbage in, garbage out. This rule applies to water quality as well. Filtered water does not have a strong odour or mineral taste. This means that the aroma and taste of the coffee is free to dominate every cup.

There be gold in them there coffeemakers!

No need to use or replace paper filters. The gold tone filter does all the work. Just rinse and dry after every brew cycle and it should last a long time. Some people say it improves the taste, but that is a matter of personal opinion.

Cuisinart DCC1000BK Final Words

The Cuisinart DCC-1000BK 12-Cup Coffeemaker is listed on the Amazon.com website. You can buy it from them and have it shipped your door. It costs between $50 to $60 at Amazon. Feel free to read the customer reviews posted on the product page. Read as many as you can to get a balanced view of this coffeemaker. Last time we looked the Cuisinart DCC-1000BK 12-Cup Coffeemaker had an average customer review rating of between 3 and 4 stars out of 5.

Cuisinart DGB-625BC Review

The Cuisinart DGB-625BC Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker is an attractive coffee maker with a brushed metal finish. Let’s see what this model has to offer you.

Programming the Coffeemaker

The Cuisinart DGB-625BC can be programmed to start grinding and brewing coffee beans anytime within a 24-hour period. The machine beeps five times to alert you the coffee is ready to drink. The auto-shutoff can be set to turn off the machine after 0 to 4 hours.

Built-in Bean Grinder

The Cuisinart DGB-625BC has a built-in bean grinder so you can use fresh coffee beans for making a great cup of coffee. Want to use your favorite pre-ground coffee? No problem. Use the grind-off feature to bypass the grinder and the noise it makes.

Brew Pause

The Brew Pause feature enables you to remove the carafe and pour a quick cup of half-brewed coffee if you wish to do so. Doing this does not stop the brewing cycle. It only stops the coffee dripping from the filter basket for about 20 to 30 seconds. It does stop your coffee craving. Remember to replace the carafe.

Waste Not Want Not

You want to make coffee but you do not need 12 cups. You only want a few cups for yourself. You do not want to waste water and coffee beans but you still want the normal taste you are used to. The Cuisinart DGB-625BC can solve this problem. Use the 1 to 4 cup button to keep the extraction, aroma and temperature of the finished coffee the same
as when brewing 12 cups.

The Carafe

The carafe does not drip all over the table when you pour coffee and it has a stay-cool handle so you can grip it firmly without burning your fingers. The amount of cups are marked on the side from 2 to 12 cups.

Where can I read more reviews for the Cuisinart DGB-625BC
Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker?

I have read a couple of customer reviews and people think that it makes a good cup of coffee due to the freshly ground coffee beans. The coffee grinder can be noisy while grinding, but all grinders produce noise. If you do not like the noise it makes, just use pre-ground coffee and the grind-off function. Remember to keep the grinder clean and bone dry or it will quickly clog up.

If you want to know what actual owners of the Cuisinart DGB-625BC say about it, head on over to Amazon.com and read the customer reviews. Last time I looked the average customer review for the coffeemaker was almost 4 stars out of 5 which is pleasing enough.

What is included with a purchase of the Cuisinart DGB-625BC
Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker?

* Charcoal water filter for removing impurities from the water.

* Permanent gold tone filter for filtering the ground coffee. It is
safe to clean in the dishwasher.

* Measuring scoop for measuring coffee beans and pre-ground coffee.

* Instruction Booklet. Please read it BEFORE using the coffeemaker
since it explains the various features and operations of the
coffeemaker.

The Price Tag

The Cuisinart DGB-625BC Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker has a price of around $100. We’ve found that Amazon.com most consistently offers the best price, so go there first.

We Love The Cuisinart DGB-700BC

We love the smell of coffee in the morning. Especially freshly ground coffee. That is why we like the Cuisinart DGB-700BC Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker. It has a burr grinder on top that grinds your choice of coffee beans just before it starts a brew cycle. Fresh from the bean and into the filter basket for a great cup of coffee.

Let’s take a closer look.

Burr Goes the Grinder

The Cuisinart DGB-700BC has a built-in burr grinder that grinds your choice of coffee beans automatically according to your chosen grind and strength settings. The burr grinder does a great job of grinding coffee beans to an even size and fine consistency. It crushes the beans instead of cutting the beans which reduces frictional heat and therefore decreases the risk of burning the coffee particles. Blade grinders cause the oils and particles to overheat creating a burnt taste. A burr grinder is noisy but well worth the extra few decibels.

Cleaning the Grinder

Remember to clean the grinder regularly. The grinder may be automatic, but it still needs to be cleaned by a pair of hands and a brush. It takes only a minute or so to clean, so do not let this bother you. Make sure the parts you clean are dry when you put it back into the coffeemaker because moisture causes clogging. The 8-ounce bean hopper has a close-fitting lid to seal out any moisture from reaching the coffee grind.

Grind Control to Major Coffee

The Grind Control Knob is used to select the number of cups you decide to brew. The burr grinder grinds the corresponding amount of coffee beans needed for the brewing cycle. You are able to use pre-ground coffee beans as well.

Coffee Strength Selector

Use the Brew Strength selector to choose the strength of your next pot of coffee. Choose between mild, medium or strong.

The Brew Cycle

The brew cycle of the Cuisinart DGB-700BC can be programmed to start brewing coffee from 1 to 24 hours into the future. We think that tomorrow morning is far enough into the future. Set it and forget it. Wake up to the aroma of freshly ground and brewed coffee. The automatic shutoff function will end a brew cycle after 1 to 4 hours.

Brew Pause Function

The coffeemaker is still busy brewing coffee. You want a cup of coffee now! Well, you can. Sort of. When you remove the carafe the flow of coffee from the filter basket stops automatically. The coffeemaker continues brewing coffee. Pour a cup of coffee and replace the carafe within about 20 seconds to prevent a mess should the filter basket overflow. After the carafe is replaced the coffee resumes its flow into the carafe.

More Cuisinart DGB-700 Features

When is the Beeping Coffee Ready to Drink?

The coffeemaker beeps five times to let you know the brewing cycle is complete. Wait for the last drops of coffee to flow from the filter basket and then pour a full cup. The carafe holds 12 cups of coffee to get you going in the morning.

Charcoal Water Filter

The charcoal water filter is part of the water reservoir and it removes impurities from the water.

Permanent Gold-tone Coffee Filter

The permanent gold-tone filter eliminates the need for constantly replacing paper filters. You still need to rinse the gold-tone filter between brewing pots of coffee. Very fine grinds flow through the filter leaving a small amount of coffee grinds in the finished brew. This can be beneficial or not depending upon how you like your coffee. The gold-tone filter will not last forever. You can buy a replacement filter or use paper filters if you prefer paper over gold.

Where can you find more information about the Cuisinart DGB-700BC?

They also sell the Cuisinart DGB-700BC Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker. This type of grind-and-brew coffeemaker costs anything between $150 to $300.
Cuisinart CHW-12 Review

We are in the process of writing reviews about coffeemakers and the Cuisinart CHW-12 Coffee Plus 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Hot Water System is an interesting combination. It catches the eye because there is a coffeemaker on one side and a hot water system on the other side. The benefit of this system is the ability to brew coffee and to heat water for other hot drinks.

Cuisinart CHW-12 Features

The Two Reservoirs

The Cuisinart CHW-12 has two water reservoirs. Each reservoir has its own charcoal filter which you use if water quality is a problem. One reservoir serves the coffeemaker and the other serves the hot water system. The coffeemaker reservoir has a water level indicator so you can see the current water level.

The hot water reservoir control panel includes a Water Ready indicator light which shows you when the water is at the correct temperature. The Add Water indicator light reminds you to add water to the hot water reservoir.

We Are in Hot Water Now

The hot water system heats water for making instant soup, instant coffee, tea and hot cocoa. You can program the coffeemaker to start brewing automatically, but you have to start the hot water system by pushing the On/Off button. It takes about 2 to 3 minutes to reach the maximum temperature of around 185 degrees Fahrenheit. Press the dispensing lever to release hot water or engage the safety lock to prevent hot water from being leaked by accident.

The Carafe

The carafe has markings on the side marking the amount of coffee brewed. The carafe holds 12 cups of coffee. The carafe is made to pour precious drops of coffee without dripping onto your shoes. The heater plate has three settings to keep the coffee in different states of hotness. Put it on low, medium or high. It has a nonstick coating to prevent ugly scratches.

Brew Pause Feature

The Brew Pause feature lets you remove the carafe while brewing is in progress to pour an early cup. The coffeemaker stops the coffee flowing from the filter basket when you remove the carafe from the heating plate. The manual recommends you replace the carafe within 20 seconds to avoid making a mess.

We are not sure if the Brew Pause is a benefit since the coffee will taste weak and half-brewed. Better wait for the brew cycle to end. Then you can pour a strong coffee with lots of flavor into your mug and your mouth. The coffeemaker beeps five times when the brew cycle is complete. You will not only smell the rich aroma of coffee, but you will also hear when the coffeemaker has finished brewing.

Cuisinart CHW-12: More Features

The 1-4 cup setting keeps the flavor and temperature of the coffee rich and hot when you want to brew less than 5 cups of coffee.

The Power Loss Back-up System keeps all your current settings intact for one minute if the unit is unplugged or a breaker switch trips. If the power failure lasts more than 60 seconds you have to reprogram the clock’s time and the coffeemaker’s automatic start and stop times.

You can buy the Cuisinart CHW-12 Coffee Plus 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Hot Water System from online retailer Amazon. It sells for between $90 to $180. Check out what buyers thought about this coffeemaker by reading a few customer reviews.

Your purchase includes the following useful items:

* 2 charcoal water filters
* 1 permanent gold tone filter
* Measuring scoop
* Instruction manual

Cuisinart DCC-2000 Coffee Maker Review

When we first saw the Cuisinart DCC-2000 coffeemaker we thought it was a brushed metal beauty. Yet, could it make 12 cups of coffee and still look good? Read our review and see what its features and benefits are.

Internal Coffee Reservoir

Do not be alarmed because you see no carafe and no coffee. The Cuisinart DCC-2000 coffeemaker has an internal double-walled coffee reservoir where the finished brew is collected and kept hot. Instead of pouring from a carafe you hold your cup in the right place and use the “press to serve” lever to fill the cup to the brim. There is a drip tray underneath if you spill a few drops of coffee. You can remove the drip tray to clean it. The coffee reservoir stores about 12 small cups of coffee. It can also be removed from the machine which makes it easier to clean.

How Many Cups Did We Drink?

A coffee gauge on the front shows you how many cups of coffee are left in the reservoir. It is not entirely accurate, but it looks interesting. The coffee gauge fits in well with the brushed metal finish of the rest of the coffeemaker.

More Cuisinart DCC-2000 Features

Water Reservoir and Charcoal Filter

The water reservoir has a built-in charcoal filter to remove unwanted chemicals from the water you pour in. This prevents strange tastes from spoiling your cup of coffee. The water reservoir has a water level indicator to show you how much water is needed. The reservoir can be removed from the coffeemaker for easy cleaning.

This Coffee is Pure Gold!

The machine works best when using a permanent gold tone filter. A permanent gold tone filter is made from gold plated stainless steel. The benefits of this kind of filter are longevity, no need to use and constantly replace paper filters and more oils are left over in the finished coffee which give it a stronger flavor.

Knobs and Clocks

The LCD clock is simple yet functional and is used for displaying the time and for programming purposes. The coffeemaker can be programmed for a full 24-hour period during which a brew cycle can be started and stopped automatically. You can program the coffeemaker to brew coffee according to your own schedule. The self-clean light and button will remind you to clean the water and coffee reservoir when there is a build up of mineral and coffee residue.

You can buy the Cuisinart DCC-2000 coffeemaker from Amazon. It costs about $100, give or take a few dollars. The coffeemaker ships with a charcoal water filter, gold tone filter, measuring scoop and instruction booklet. Go and read some of the customer reviews on Amazon. Owners tend to like the brushed metal look of the coffeemaker. They also like the internal coffee reservoir which keeps the coffee hot. People also think that the coffeemaker is easy to clean.

Cuisinart DCC-2000 Update

There is a newer version available called the Cuisinart DCC-3000 Coffee on Demand 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker. It looks even better than its predecessor. It has a 1-4 cup setting which helps to keep the flavor strength and temperature the same as when brewing 12 cups of coffee. However, it still has the coffee cup gauge which looks good but is not very accurate. A more practical solution would be a visible coffee level indicator. Go look at the newer model and read what reviewers say about it.

Cuisinart DCC-1100 Review

We are researching different brands and models of coffee makers for this website. The Cuisinart DCC-1100 coffee maker is one of the models we are looking into. We think it is a good package for the price. It gets positive reviews for the most part.

Let’s take a closer look at this machine.

Cuisinart DCC-1100 Overview

The Circle of Brewing

The Cuisinart DCC-1100 coffee maker makes delicious coffee using your favorite medium grind coffee mixture. This is an automatic coffee maker with a 24-hour programming function. You program it to start the brew cycle anytime during the day or night by using the Auto On setting. The Auto Off setting stops the brew cycle after 1 to 4 hours depending on your choice.

The machine beeps five times when the brew cycle completes so you will hear when the coffee is ready to drink. Alternatively, you can also start it manually. Program it before you go to sleep at night and wake up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee.

Pause for a Brew

The coffee collects in the carafe that sits on a small hotplate which keeps it warm. The carafe is designed to handle easily and safely without the risk of spilling coffee or burning your hand. You can remove the carafe and pour a quick cup of coffee even when the brew cycle is still in progress.

The Brew Pause function on the Cuisinart DCC-1100 stops the coffee from flowing onto the hotplate when you remove the carafe. Be careful to replace the carafe within 30 seconds or the filter basket may overflow.

Filters and Cleaning

The machine contains a charcoal water filter which removes odors, tastes and chlorine from the tap water you pour into the machine. This is a great feature since coffee is mostly water and the taste of the water determines whether the coffee smells good or tastes like trench mud.

However, the water filter does not last forever and you must change it every 2 months for the best results. Calcium deposits build up in the water reservoir and other parts of the machine and the self-clean light flashes when this occurs. Refer to the instruction manual for details on cleaning the machine.

It is not too difficult since the coffeemaker cleans itself when put into self-cleaning mode. The Cuisinart DCC-1100 coffee machine uses a paper filter or a gold tone metal filter. The gold tone filter is a permanent filter since it lasts much longer, is easy to clean and can be reused many times. Be sure to rinse the filter completely or put it in the dishwasher for a good cleaning.

Gone in 60 Seconds?

The Cuisinart DCC-1100 coffeemaker has a 60 second power backup system that keeps your programmed brew settings for one minute in case you unplug it by accident or the breaker switch trips. You will have to scramble to restore power to the unit since 60 seconds is very short. Still, might be useful for small power problems that can be quickly fixed.

Where can you buy the Cuisinart DCC-1100 coffee maker?

Online retailer Amazon has it in stock for a low price.Usually it sells for around $50.

Verdict

Overall, the Cuisinart DCC-1100 offers good value for money as a 12 cup coffee maker. On Amazon.com it has received 607 user reviews at the time of this writing. Of those, 460 are 4 and 5 star reviews, meaning the product ends up with a 75% customer satisfaction ratio. This is not bad at all.

A charcoal water filter, permanent gold tone filter, coffee measuring scoop and instruction manual is included with your purchase. The coffeemaker comes with a 3-year limited warranty. Go and read some of the most helpful customer reviews to learn what buyers and owners think of the Cuisinart DCC-1100 coffee maker.

Cuisinart DCC-1200 Coffee Maker Review

The Cuisinart DCC-1200 coffee maker is immensely popular, and it is not hard to see why.

It is not a difficult coffee maker to get to grips with, but spending 10 or 20 minutes with the manual to get started is recommended. To make coffee with the DCC-1200 you simply have to place a filter into the holder and get your coffee in there.

Video Walkthrough

Before we begin the review, you can watch this video walkthrough of the machine to see what it looks like and what features it offers.

Cuisinart DCC-1200 Review: The Machine At A Glance

The Cuisinart DCC-1200 coffee maker looks shiny and simple due to its classy stainless steel housing and black reservoir cover. It looks inviting in most kitchens and offices. It brews a maximum of 12 cups of coffee which is stored in a glass carafe at the bottom.

It also boasts a 1 to 4 cup setting which produces smaller amounts of coffee while still heating the brew to the correct temperature. It has a charcoal water filter to remove bad tastes and chlorine from the water used for brewing to ensure a better tasting cup of coffee.

A digital clock display is used for checking when your coffee break begins and ends and for programming the next cup of stimulating coffee. A self-cleaning function will flash a light when the coffee maker needs to be cleaned.

It beeps when the brewing cycle is complete. It has an automatic shut-off function. All this and a cup of steaming coffee too, for around $70? Sounds good to us.

Let’s take a closer look. The most important parts of the Cuisinart DCC-1200 coffee maker are discussed below.

Filters

We love the fact that Cuisinart has added a water filter to this model. While the water filter is able to remove chlorine, calcium and strange tastes from the water, poor quality water can damage the machine or force it to require more frequent cleaning. You pour water into the water reservoir by flipping back the cover on top of the machine.

The filter basket has a place for a paper filter or a permanent filter. The water filter can be changed every 2 months or after about 60 uses. The coffee filter basket can take a maximum of 15 tablespoons of ground coffee.

The Brew Pause

If you need your coffee NOW, you can remove the glass carafe while the coffee maker is still brewing and pour yourself a cup. The Brew Pause function will stop the coffee from flowing onto the hotplate below while it keeps on brewing.

Just replace the carafe within 30 seconds of removing it or the coffee might spill over the filter basket. Remember that the coffee will not be as strong as when the brewing cycle has completed.

Clocks and Buttons

On the front beneath the Cuisinart brand name is the LCD Digital clock. It will display the time you set using the hour and minute buttons for automatic coffee brewing. You can turn the function knob to set the start time of a brew cycle and also when it should turn off.

A flip switch turns the coffee maker on or off. A handy temperature knob allows you to keep the coffee at a low, medium or high temperature in the carafe on the hotplate. You’ll also find the 1 to 4 cup button for brewing small amounts of coffee here.

Cleaning and Maintenance

The Cuisinart DCC-1200 features a handy indicator light to tell you when it should be cleaned. If the machine is operating and the Self Clean light starts to flash, the machine is drawing your attention to the build up of calcium deposits in the water reservoir and rest of the machine.

Finish brewing the coffee and then prepare to clean the coffee maker. You can use a simple white vinegar and water mixture to clean the machine. Pour the mixture in the water reservoir and press the self clean button which puts the machine into self-cleaning mode. The manual has more details on this, but the warning light is a great feature to have as regular cleaning can prevent long term damage to the machine.

Problems

The most common issue that users experience with the Cuisinart DCC-1200 is failure of the electric heating element. This could indicate that this machine is more suitable to light use, and serious coffee drinkers that demand heavy daily use from the machine may be well served to consider a more upscale model like the excellent Cuisinart CHW-12. Still, this is an intermittent problem reported only by a small percentage of users.
