Cuisinart DCC1000BK 12-Cup Coffeemaker, Black

Cuisinart DCC1000BK 12-Cup Coffeemaker Review

We review coffeemakers. Now its time for the Cuisinart DCC-1000BK 12-Cup Coffeemaker to be reviewed.

Back in Black

The Cuisinart DCC-1000BK 12-Cup Coffeemaker comes in a glossy black finish that does not stain easily and wipes clean quickly.

Automatic Coffee Brewing

You program the coffeemaker to automatically start brewing coffee before you wake up in the morning or come home at night. Programming the coffeemaker is not difficult and can be learned by reading the manual before use. Practice makes coffee!

Programmable Warming Plate

You can program the warming plate to keep the coffee warm for up to four hours maximum after the brewing cycle has ended. You program the warming plate to automatically shut off so you do not have to remember to turn it off yourself.

Charcoal Water Filter

Garbage in, garbage out. This rule applies to water quality as well. Filtered water does not have a strong odour or mineral taste. This means that the aroma and taste of the coffee is free to dominate every cup.

There be gold in them there coffeemakers!

No need to use or replace paper filters. The gold tone filter does all the work. Just rinse and dry after every brew cycle and it should last a long time. Some people say it improves the taste, but that is a matter of personal opinion.

Cuisinart DGB-625BC

Cuisinart DGB-625BC Review

The Cuisinart DGB-625BC Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker is an attractive coffee maker with a brushed metal finish. Let’s see what this model has to offer you.

Programming the Coffeemaker

The Cuisinart DGB-625BC can be programmed to start grinding and brewing coffee beans anytime within a 24-hour period. The machine beeps five times to alert you the coffee is ready to drink. The auto-shutoff can be set to turn off the machine after 0 to 4 hours.

Built-in Bean Grinder

The Cuisinart DGB-625BC has a built-in bean grinder so you can use fresh coffee beans for making a great cup of coffee. Want to use your favorite pre-ground coffee? No problem. Use the grind-off feature to bypass the grinder and the noise it makes.

Brew Pause

The Brew Pause feature enables you to remove the carafe and pour a quick cup of half-brewed coffee if you wish to do so. Doing this does not stop the brewing cycle. It only stops the coffee dripping from the filter basket for about 20 to 30 seconds. It does stop your coffee craving. Remember to replace the carafe.

Waste Not Want Not

You want to make coffee but you do not need 12 cups. You only want a few cups for yourself. You do not want to waste water and coffee beans but you still want the normal taste you are used to. The Cuisinart DGB-625BC can solve this problem. Use the 1 to 4 cup button to keep the extraction, aroma and temperature of the finished coffee the same as when brewing 12 cups.

The Carafe

The carafe does not drip all over the table when you pour coffee and it has a stay-cool handle so you can grip it firmly without burning your fingers. The amount of cups are marked on the side from 2 to 12 cups.

Where can I read more reviews for the Cuisinart DGB-625BC Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker?

I have read a couple of customer reviews and people think that it makes a good cup of coffee due to the freshly ground coffee beans. The coffee grinder can be noisy while grinding, but all grinders produce noise. If you do not like the noise it makes, just use pre-ground coffee and the grind-off function. Remember to keep the grinder clean and bone dry or it will quickly clog up.

If you want to know what actual owners of the Cuisinart DGB-625BC say about it, head on over to Amazon.com and read the customer reviews. Last time I looked the average customer review for the coffeemaker was almost 4 stars out of 5 which is pleasing enough.

What is included with a purchase of the Cuisinart DGB-625BC Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker?

* Charcoal water filter for removing impurities from the water.

* Permanent gold tone filter for filtering the ground coffee. It is safe to clean in the dishwasher.

* Measuring scoop for measuring coffee beans and pre-ground coffee.

* Instruction Booklet. Please read it BEFORE using the coffeemaker since it explains the various features and operations of the coffeemaker.

Cuisinart DGB-700BC

We Love The Cuisinart DGB-700BC

We love the smell of coffee in the morning. Especially freshly ground coffee. That is why we like the Cuisinart DGB-700BC Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker. It has a burr grinder on top that grinds your choice of coffee beans just before it starts a brew cycle. Fresh from the bean and into the filter basket for a great cup of coffee.

Let’s take a closer look.

Burr Goes the Grinder

The Cuisinart DGB-700BC has a built-in burr grinder that grinds your choice of coffee beans automatically according to your chosen grind and strength settings. The burr grinder does a great job of grinding coffee beans to an even size and fine consistency. It crushes the beans instead of cutting the beans which reduces frictional heat and therefore decreases the risk of burning the coffee particles. Blade grinders cause the oils and particles to overheat creating a burnt taste. A burr grinder is noisy but well worth the extra few decibels.

Cleaning the Grinder

Remember to clean the grinder regularly. The grinder may be automatic, but it still needs to be cleaned by a pair of hands and a brush. It takes only a minute or so to clean, so do not let this bother you. Make sure the parts you clean are dry when you put it back into the coffeemaker because moisture causes clogging. The 8-ounce bean hopper has a close-fitting lid to seal out any moisture from reaching the coffee grind.

cuisinart dgb-700bcGrind Control to Major Coffee

The Grind Control Knob is used to select the number of cups you decide to brew. The burr grinder grinds the corresponding amount of coffee beans needed for the brewing cycle. You are able to use pre-ground coffee beans as well.

Coffee Strength Selector

Use the Brew Strength selector to choose the strength of your next pot of coffee. Choose between mild, medium or strong.

The Brew Cycle

The brew cycle of the Cuisinart DGB-700BC can be programmed to start brewing coffee from 1 to 24 hours into the future. We think that tomorrow morning is far enough into the future. Set it and forget it. Wake up to the aroma of freshly ground and brewed coffee. The automatic shutoff function will end a brew cycle after 1 to 4 hours.

Brew Pause Function

The coffeemaker is still busy brewing coffee. You want a cup of coffee now! Well, you can. Sort of. When you remove the carafe the flow of coffee from the filter basket stops automatically. The coffeemaker continues brewing coffee. Pour a cup of coffee and replace the carafe within about 20 seconds to prevent a mess should the filter basket overflow. After the carafe is replaced the coffee resumes its flow into the carafe.

More Cuisinart DGB-700 Features

cuisinart dgb-700bc reviewWhen is the Beeping Coffee Ready to Drink?

The coffeemaker beeps five times to let you know the brewing cycle is complete. Wait for the last drops of coffee to flow from the filter basket and then pour a full cup. The carafe holds 12 cups of coffee to get you going in the morning.

Charcoal Water Filter

The charcoal water filter is part of the water reservoir and it removes impurities from the water.

Permanent Gold-tone Coffee Filter

The permanent gold-tone filter eliminates the need for constantly replacing paper filters. You still need to rinse the gold-tone filter between brewing pots of coffee. Very fine grinds flow through the filter leaving a small amount of coffee grinds in the finished brew. This can be beneficial or not depending upon how you like your coffee. The gold-tone filter will not last forever. You can buy a replacement filter or use paper filters if you prefer paper over gold.

Where can you find more information about the Cuisinart DGB-700BC?

Cuisinart CHW-12

Cuisinart CHW-12 Review

We are in the process of writing reviews about coffeemakers and the Cuisinart CHW-12 Coffee Plus 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Hot Water System is an interesting combination. It catches the eye because there is a coffeemaker on one side and a hot water system on the other side. The benefit of this system is the ability to brew coffee and to heat water for other hot drinks.

Cuisinart CHW-12 Features

The Two Reservoirs

The Cuisinart CHW-12 has two water reservoirs. Each reservoir has its own charcoal filter which you use if water quality is a problem. One reservoir serves the coffeemaker and the other serves the hot water system. The coffeemaker reservoir has a water level indicator so you can see the current water level.

The hot water reservoir control panel includes a Water Ready indicator light which shows you when the water is at the correct temperature. The Add Water indicator light reminds you to add water to the hot water reservoir.

We Are in Hot Water Now

The hot water system heats water for making instant soup, instant coffee, tea and hot cocoa. You can program the coffeemaker to start brewing automatically, but you have to start the hot water system by pushing the On/Off button. It takes about 2 to 3 minutes to reach the maximum temperature of around 185 degrees Fahrenheit. Press the dispensing lever to release hot water or engage the safety lock to prevent hot water from being leaked by accident.

The Carafe

The carafe has markings on the side marking the amount of coffee brewed. The carafe holds 12 cups of coffee. The carafe is made to pour precious drops of coffee without dripping onto your shoes. The heater plate has three settings to keep the coffee in different states of hotness. Put it on low, medium or high. It has a nonstick coating to prevent ugly scratches.

Cuisinart CHW-12Brew Pause Feature

The Brew Pause feature lets you remove the carafe while brewing is in progress to pour an early cup. The coffeemaker stops the coffee flowing from the filter basket when you remove the carafe from the heating plate. The manual recommends you replace the carafe within 20 seconds to avoid making a mess.

We are not sure if the Brew Pause is a benefit since the coffee will taste weak and half-brewed. Better wait for the brew cycle to end. Then you can pour a strong coffee with  lots of flavor into your mug and your mouth. The coffeemaker beeps five times when the brew cycle is complete. You will not only smell the rich aroma of coffee, but you will also hear when the coffeemaker has finished brewing.

Cuisinart CHW-12: More Features

The 1-4 cup setting keeps the flavor and temperature of the coffee rich and hot when you want to brew less than 5 cups of coffee.

The Power Loss Back-up System keeps all your current settings intact for one minute if the unit is unplugged or a breaker switch trips. If the power failure lasts more than 60 seconds you have to reprogram the clock’s time and the coffeemaker’s automatic start and stop times.

You can buy the Cuisinart CHW-12 Coffee Plus 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Hot Water System from online retailer Amazon. It sells for between $90 to $180. Check out what buyers thought about this coffeemaker by reading a few customer reviews.

Your purchase includes the following useful items:

* 2 charcoal water filters * 1 permanent gold tone filter * Measuring scoop * Instruction manual
